In short: Meetpoint sends your location only while you have started sharing yourself. Positions are never stored. There is no account, no email address and no advertising.
Profile: the name and color you choose and a random identifier created by your device, plus a hash of a device secret so nobody can take over your identifier. A copy of the profile is kept in your iPhone's keychain so it survives a reinstall.
Location: only while you are sharing. Positions are held exclusively in the server's memory and disappear when sharing ends. There is no location history.
Group content: group name, members, meetings, RSVPs, quests, chat messages, shared expenses, points and your notification settings. This data is kept until the group is dissolved, so that nobody loses track of money they are owed.
Push notifications: a push token of your device if you allow notifications. They are delivered through the Expo push service to Apple.
Crash reports and usage: If the app crashes, an error message with the app version and platform is sent to us, without name, identifier or location. Usage is only counted as anonymous daily totals, such as how many groups were created.
Guest links: Anyone who opens a guest link sees the group's map in a browser, without the app and without an account. The link expires after a short time.
Hosting: Servers and database run on Cloudflare. Your IP address is processed for technical reasons; to prevent abuse, join attempts are counted per IP address for ten minutes.
Routes and arrival time: While you are sharing, the server sends your current position and the meeting point to the FOSSGIS routing service (routing.openstreetmap.de) to calculate the route and arrival time. No name or identifier is included.
Place search: Search terms and your approximate area are sent to OpenStreetMap (Nominatim).
Maps: The app uses Apple Maps; the browser view uses OpenFreeMap.
We do not sell data and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
If you share and grant "Always" access, the app keeps sending while your phone is in your pocket. This stops automatically on arrival, after the chosen duration, or with the stop button. Nothing is sent while you are not sharing.
You can request access to, correction of and deletion of your data. You can change your name and color in the app under Profile. When you leave a group, you are no longer a member of it. For anything else, and to have your data deleted, write to marleymahere@gmail.com.
